TRT does not necessarily have to be continued permanently; this depends on the underlying cause of the testosterone deficiency. If the deficiency is due to a temporary cause, treatment may be limited in duration and gradually discontinued at a later stage. In the case of a permanent hormonal deficiency, longer-term or continuous treatment may be appropriate.

Oral: Particularly flexible, as the treatment can be adjusted or paused at any time.

  • Gel: Also easy to adjust, but requires continuous daily application.
  • Injections: Less flexible because the effects last for a longer period, and after discontinuation, the body may need some time to resume producing sufficient testosterone on its own.
